Why Enameloplasty Procedure is Done

The enameloplasty procedure is done to enhance the appearance of the tooth by correcting imperfections such as irregularities in shape, size, or surface texture.

Enameloplasty is performed to improve the aesthetics of the smile or to address minor functional issues like a cracked tooth, chopped tooth, tooth crowding, or rough edges. There are some other names for enameloplasty:

Possible Complications with Enameloplasty

Enameloplasty is a safe and effective procedure. It is essential to be aware of the permanent nature of enamel loss and any potential changes to your bite.

While there might be slight adjustments to your bite because of enamel reshaping, significant complications are rare. Enamel, once eliminated, doesn’t regenerate as it lacks living cells.

Alternatives to Enameloplasty

Dental Bonding:

Dental bonding can be an alternative to enameloplasty. They achieve similar cosmetic improvements without removing enamel.

Dental Crowns:

Crowns can be used to restore damaged or cracked teeth, improve tooth shape and size, and enhance aesthetics.

Porcelain Veneers:

Veneers address a wide range of cosmetic issues like tooth size, shape, color, and alignment of the chopped tooth without the removal of enamel.
